As a ritual yearly, I always make a top 10 favourite list. This year I have make my English top 10 and Asian top 10 most favourites. These are my favourites of the 2008 in the english catergory. What can I say? Female singers are my most favourites and last year highlights, Rihanna had kick this year's newbie Katy Perry of the list.
1. Duffy-Rockferry

Pretty sure I can say that 2007's Amy Winehouse had paved a way for the soul music this year. Duffy, altot not dramatic enough, is the soul highlights of the year by scoring her "
Mercy" since early of the year till end of the year with the repackage of new tracks like "
Rain On Your Parade". Personally, tracks like "
Warwick Avenue", "
Serious", "
Stepping Stone" had become a regular in my playlist. Just love her husky voice and maybe the 70's in back in trend had made her a bigger star.
2. Britney Spears- Circus
Isn't she predictable? Knew she would make a comeback this year and there she is. Showcasing her circus to us. This Circus album built on her previous electronic pop-dance music trance,

Blackout. From her No. 1 hit, "
Womenizer", closely follows with "
Circus" which successfully go on to be most chessiest and catchiest pop song of the year. As to her sentimental side, there are "
My Baby" It's been tracking her videos as soon it releases. Lady, you had matured..... Additional favourite;
Mannequin, If You Seek Amy3. Mariah Carey-E=MC2

This album is a top up, upgrading version of TEOM (The Emancipation of MiMi), however, minus the sense new and fresh. Totally something she done before, her signature ballads, I Stay In Love, Bye Bye, Thanks 4 Nothin, her up beat chessy sexy dance floor filler, Touch My body, O.O.C., I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time. New and surprises elements would be her smooth sexy I'm That Chick, Reggaed-Cruise Control, and terrific upbeat "Migrate". She deserve to in the list as it got all other elements I like in a pop album. Additional favourite;Side Effects
4. Madonna-Hard Candy

Being release on the same time, it's hard not be get compare. Who's the winner? None. They are over throw by the younger artist. What a shame. Hard Candy of coz also satisfied Madonna's theme as The Queen of re-invention. Monster hit of
4 Minutes ft Justin timberlake,
Beats Goes On, Give It To Me and
Miles Away already haunting the airplay for months (at least my MP3 player) A thumb-up for creating a record compile all differnt sounds of hip-hop, of coz infused with her electronice dance elements. Additional favourite;
She's not Me, Heartbeat
5. Leona Lewis-Spirit

I spotted her during her x-Factor times,
Bleeding Love become an instant hit for me, and worldwide. Follow-up singles are like
Better In Time, Footprints In The Sand, Forgive Me and the latest
Run, are all fantastic. She's totally can match up to the title of new Mariah. The album still had a few more potential tracks to push as potential. Additional favourite;
I Will Be, Take A Bow
6. Beyonce-I am .... .. Sasha Fierce
She is the biggest comeback this year, at least as I thought. "If I Were A Boy" hits my head and gets me humming all the time, even before its release. "Single Ladies" making waves all around, and up-coming singles "Halo" and "Diva" is scoring their way. This double disc which differes her two distinctive sounds. Ballads and up-beat hip-hop. Additional favourite; Ave Maria, Video Phone.
7. Kanye West-808 & heartbreak
A break-up and an auto-voice machine 808, create this new sound for Kanye. After finishing his "Graduation", this album will helps him to scores more nominations in the award ceremony and spins off 2 top 5 singles. This is a total blast for me. Heart break is always the best topic for songs.Additional favourite;Love Knockdown, Heartless, Paranoid
8. maroon 5-it won't be soon before long

This is one big surprise for me too, release 2007, and yet, still hanging on my playlist. Guess its kinda slow in picking up despite its initial release of Makes Me Wonders to the radio, the follow-up like Wake Up Call, If I never See Your Face Again and Goodnight GoodnightAdditional favourite;Nothing Last Forever
9. pussycat dolls-doll domination

They put the Girl power thingy back on the spotlight? Nope, just make pop music spells IMMORTAL. Not topping their debut PCD, but at least making to be my favourites. Hits from "When I Grow Up", "Watcha Do About Tat", "I Hate This Part", to " Bottle-up" all sounds wonderful and catchy. They can put out more singles from this album.Additional favourite;out of this club, baby love, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps,hush hush, many more
10.Rihanna-good girl gone bad
Need no more intro. "Take A Bow", " DIsturbia" to " Rehab" as the second wave of promo for the album had successfully cling on to me for the whole year. Not to mention "Don't Stop The Music" also clinging on my playlist from last year til this year.Additional favourite; CRY, Breaking Dishes
