They are not only been found fame in the Taiwan Pop scene for the past 10 years, but also breaking into the world's mandarin music scene as one of the most recognisable name in the manda-pop world. This year summer rush, we had them conquering the the radio waves and album charts with the start of Penny Dai's FORGIVE ME FOR BEING SUCH A GIRL (戴佩妮 - 原諒我就是這樣的女生)[as mentiooned in previous blog], is closely follow by our hottest stars, Nicholas & Gary.
Nicholas Teo from Miri, emerged into the scene with his crown from ASTRO Singing Talent Competition 1st runner-up and one of his winning song performed on the contest, SUNSET(黄昏)and his big break, WHO WOULD YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU ARE LONELY(当你孤单你会想起谁), had him breaking into Singapore, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan one by one. Its another miracle from M'sia, they would say. Since then he had release 2EPs, 2OST, 3 albums and 1 greatest hits complilations, and now he is releasing his 4th album and 1st studio new album in 2 years, THE MOMENT OF SILENCE 沉默的瞬间.
Already no 1 in Taiwan album sales chart, and spinning hits like THE MOMENT OF SILENCE 沉默的瞬间, PERFECT(SEMPURNA), SAY YOU LOVE ME TOO說你也一樣愛著我, & LOW PROFILE低調, which aimed high in the karaoke box and continue setting his Korean style ballad prince image, which could do no wrong. His records company even boast aloud that he is the "No 1 brother" 一哥。
Gary Chao is also another talented artist which couldn't be ignored, coming out from the ASTRO Talent Competition as well, is widely recognised as a composer & a singer with a new twist. He shoot to fame with his mandarin cover of Karyn White's SUPERWOMEN back a few years ago, and continued deliver hits since then. Also releasing his 4th solo album, SUPER-MARKET(超級4th場) is a follow-up to his award-winning album, SUPER SUNSHINE, won him the best male performance at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards[Taiwan's Grammy].
SUPER-MARKET(超級4th場), origin by a fans query whether his next album will continue a SUPER- series, had get Gary excited by creating an album with all sort of different elements, as like in supermarket you got all sort of stuffs. A promo single, CURRY HOTDOG (咖哩熱狗)is a creative collabrations with MC HOTDOG, a playful tune which being plug early of the year to radio. Another of his signature songs, power-ballads, MR LONELY (寂寞先生) as the lead single, together with PLAM'S LINES(掌紋) will be a fans favourite and as well a singing talent favourite choice in the coming future. Some other forthcoming releases includes Victor Huang(品冠)'s second greatest hit complilation "ALL FOR LOVE", with 7 new songs and 7 fans' favourites. Z-Chen,张智成 our very own RnB prince, which made famous songs like MAY I LOVE YOU, LOVE TREE(爱情树）had also finally released his 6th album SERCET LOVE(暗恋) after being dropped from his previous label HIM 3 years ago. With a fresh start form the lead single ENCHANTED LOVE迷魂阵, a Justin Timberlake style of eletro-pop/hip-hop, up-beat number. Something is very lacked off in mandarin songs, it means a fresh breath of air. As usual with the ballads like,LOVES COME AT THE RIGHT TIME(爱来的刚好) & SERCET LOVE(暗恋), had make noise at the radio airplay and its much talked about gay MV. The album released in M'sia, HK, China and S'pore had gain positives reviews and now awaiting his soon-to-be release in Taiwan, for his domination again.
This year of 2009, we really sees the full return of the gang of "Malay" artists. Presummably, with Fish Leong dominating the first half year with her LOVESONGS;DON'T CRY FOR HIM(靜茹 & 情歌) and high hopes of her winning her first BEST FEMALE PERFORMANCE in this coming Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards, with the next half of the year of the male artists' turn from Gary & Nicholas to Micheal Wong which schedule to be release around October 09. Can I say the "Malay Gang" dominate the Taiwanese music this year?
